Such a pretty dress!
1940s black crepe dress with sequin and embroidered
butterfly detail. Semi fitted bodice with
padded extended shoulder (like cap sleeves,
they cover the upper arm), rounded neckline
and key hole opening in back. Side metal
zipper. There is a surplice drape over the
skirt in front. This is a nice design detail
that camouflages the tummy area beautifully
(they should do this today!)
A huge butterfly adorns the bodice.
It is
done in silver, purple and black sequins
with embroidered cord details. There
was
once a belt but it is gone. A simple
black
belt or ribbon would work well or go
without
a belt at all.
The perfect special occasion or dinner
dress.
Sort of like a little black dress with
a
twist!
The size is around a modern 20 with the following measurements.
Bust 49"
Waist 39"
Hips 49"

Lovely and Ladylike....Luncheon dress w/coat
circa 1950s
Sage green linen blend with trellis-leaf
embroidery. Feminine fitted dress with modified
sweatheart - neckline cap sleeves and self
fabric belt. There is a metal zipper doen
the center back. The coat is a flattering
swing style falling past the hip with generous
embroidered shawl collar and 3/4 length sleeves.
The body of the coat is lined with light
weight taffeta. There is no label.
This outfit would look stunning with
a beautiful
hat. I think the bigger the brim the
better!
Never worn and looks brand new but on the
coat there were two TINY spots (smaller than
a pin head). They are so small I decided
to leave them alone but they will probably
come out with the first cleaning.
The size is around a modern size 20. The measurements are as follows
Bust 48"
Waist 41"
Hips 50"

Fabulous Pucci inspired stretch knit
top
from the 1960s.
The material is a textured poly knit with
a bold geometric print in blues and browns.
It has a jewel neckline and center back zipper.
The body is cut straight and the sleeves
are long and narrow. This would be perfect
over capri pants or a cute mini skirt. Of
course it would work beautifully with jeans
too! The label in the back says Bookvalley by Fairfield but inside the hem of the fabric also reads
designed by Zio Luigi for Fairfield. The size would be around a modern 18 if it
is to be worn fitted, they way it was designed.
If you prefer it to hang more loosely a modern
14. The material has plenty of stretch but
I will give measurements without stretching the fabric.

Stay cool in vintage style in this nautical
inspired, 1940s gingham check dress. The
material is a light cotton acetate blend
with little blue and white woven checks.
It is sleeveless with a sailor like collar
and it buttons fully down the front. The
bodice is gently fitted and the skirt has
six little tuck pleats in front. At one time
there must have been a belt, but it is gone
now. I envision a thin red belt with it,
but any number of other belts would do fine
as well. Of course you can wear it without
a belt as well. There are no pockets. The
measurements are as follows - bust 48" - waist 40" and hips 52". The length of the skirt is 24" long
from waist to hem. Never worn and in...

Modern size 20-22
Attend your next social affair amidst a swirl
of black chiffon! The heavenly frock you
are viewing was created in the 1930s. This
photo does not come close to portraying the
gorgeous detailing. I will try to describe
as best I can.
The outer layer is done in yards n' yards
of flowing black silk chiffon. First the
bodice is lightly draped with an attached
shawl. This piece hangs to the waist in back,
flows over the shoulders and plunges to a
deep V in front. Beneath this is a built
in V neck, chamisole in ivory silk chiffon
which has delicate chantilly like embroidery.
The edge of the chamisole is scalloped and
it ends just below the bust. It does not
show in the picture but below the V, at the
waist are two large flowers in black silk
velvet. They are made from of a multitude
of soft petals and give the impression of
peonies. The bodice then loosely falls to
a dropped waist. At this point there is a
1" black chiffon belt with a silver
tone and rhinestone buckle in a pre-deco
design. The skirt is cut in bias panels which
curve in a "waterfall" design on
both sides. This reminds me of some of Lanvins
dresses. It is skillfully made with an ivory
chiffon lining in the bodice and black silk
taffeta underskirt. The finest feature is
the way the fabric flows with movement. It
would be perfection on the dance floor! The
size is around a modern 20W-22W with a 49" bust, 46" waist
and 50" hips. The entire dress from shoulder to hem is
58" long. Although this dress is in
excellent condition and the fabric still
has its integrity it is 80 years old and
will need tender treatment. It's most vulnerable
moments are when being put on and taken off.
When removing gently take hold of the skirt
and its lining and "peel" the dress
up and off. If there is someone to help that's
even better!

Modern size 18-20
Wonderful dinner or party dress from
the
1960s by Radiant exclusive. The dress is cut in a simple shift style
but there is nothing simple about it. The
fabric is a lovely silk and acrylic blend
which looks like a crisp silk shantung it
is underlined in green sibonne. The colors
are deep emerald and purple stripes which
are cut on the bias in a perfectly matched
chevron pattern. The V neckline has a little
vent and round covered buttons as accents.
It wasn't designed with a belt but I think
a black patent leather belt and shoes to
match would look well also. The size is about
a modern 18 or 20 with a 46" bust and 46"
hips. There is lots of seam allowance to alter
up where needed. The length from shoulder
to hem is 40" (a couple inches below
the knee on an average height)

Modern size 16-18
Heres one for you taller gals.
I guarantee the compliments with this fabulous
coat and skirt ensemble from the 1960s. The
wool is a luscious green, heavy boucle. The
set consists of a 3/4 length double breasted
coat with notched lapels and straight shirt.
The sleeves are 3/4 length measuring 22".
The lining is a rich green satin. A black
cowl sweater would look gorgeous with this
along with long black leather gloves..The
size is tricky, the coat is about a todays 16-18 with a bust measurement of 48"
and a hip measurement of 46". The skirt is smaller measuring 32"
in the waist and 44" at the hip there
is however enough seam allowance to add a
few inches if needed. The length of the skirt
is 27".The hem and the sleeves have
been lowered so I think this outfit requires
some height to pull it off. I would recommend
it be worn by some one 5'6" or over
. The only flaw is some very minor color
change to the inside lining under the arms.
The only label is a union label so I do not
know the maker, but it is very well tailored
with hand bound buttonholes etc.

Bust 47"
Sexy leopard print top, in silky nylon
jersey
from the 1950s.. The label in this
fun top
reads Styled by Sybil. It is a V neck tunic with long full sleeves
which are elasticized at the wrist. The material
stretches but I will give the measurements
before stretch. The bust is 47" and the hips are 48"
the length from shoulder to hem is 32". While photographing this piece I noticed
a tear that had been mended about 4' above
the hem to the left in front. The reason
I noticed was that I could feel the piece
of backing someone had put on for reinforcement.
It is difficult to see this mend, especially
because of the busy pattern and it does not
interfere with the drape. Aside from this
mend it is in great condition.

Lovely dark brown leather coat from the 1960s.
This coat has a zip out lining for added
warmth. The cut is straight single breasted
with a notched lapel, top stitched yoke and
side front slash pockets. There is a lot
of nice topstitching throughout, bound button
holes and leather covered buttons. The leather
is nice and supple. The size is about a todays 14 with a 43" bust measurement and
45" hips. The shoulders measure 17" across and
the length of the coat from shoulder to hem
is 40" The only flaw is some fading
in the lining at the hem.
