THREE in ONE!!
Gadgets were an obsession for the 1950s consumer.
They couldn't get enough of them. Gadgets
for the home, the car, the office... Even
the wardrobe! This spiffy handbag is a wonderful
example of 1950s design innovation. It is
a three in one handbag. The sides can be
switched to become black moire faille, plain
black faille or black wool flannel. It even
has the original instruction tag! The handle
is clear lucite and it has a nice gold frame.
The inside is lined with black taffeta with
one open pocket. It also has it's original
change purse and mirror. The name inside
reads L+M it also says Bags by Edwards, Made in USA and the pat. # is 2809685.
The bag was never used but there is one scratch on the moire faille side. It is just over an inch long and does
not go through the fabric. The rest of it
is like new. A nice size, this bag measures
9" across the front.

Unique 1960s tapestry bag with leather sides.
The front of the bag is done in a medallion
theme, carpet tapestry. The sides and back
are a very sturdy leather which keeps a rigid
form. It has a wonderful brass finished clasp
which you can see better in the detail pictures.
The leather handles are riveted in place
with leather covered buttons, a nice extra
detail. It is finished on the inside with
a faux wood lining and has one vinyl pocket.
There is no name that I can find. The size
measures 9 1/2" across the base.

Caramel leather clutch (lighter than my picture)
from the 1970s. A handsome leather clutch
with optional shoulder chain and large faux
tortoise clasp. The leather is soft and supple
with welted seams and nice top stitching.
Although a classic style the lucite-tortoise
clasp saves it from being boring and adds
a touch of fun. Inside is lined in brown
faille and there is a vinyl zippered pouch
for coins etc. The body of the bag measures 11" across and 6" high. It is in wonderful condition with the only
signs of wear being to the edges of the lining
under the flap where it folds.

it from from a simple clutch to an artistic
accessory! Very much in vogue at this time.

has two zippered compartments. The maker
was Clemente. It measures just under 12" wide by 8" high.

Such Practical luxury!
Fabulous 1940s black Persian lamb and wool
boucle muff-purse. The shape is a large trapezoid
pleated down the center, with the front sides
trimmed in Persian lamb with a triangle of
black boucle wool in the center. The back
is all wool. The inside is lined in pure
silk satin and the edges are piped with satin
cord. There is a wrist cord made out of the
same silk satin. In back is a zippered compartment
with two inner pockets. The compartment is
large enough for just the necessities. Wallet,
Lipstick, cell phone + small brush. The decorative
silver pull ring on the zipper is around
the size of a nickel. This hangs from a
short silver link chain. I have always been
fond of these muffs from the 1940s. They
really do come in handy when the weather
turns chilly. I carry mine over the crook
of my arm and it does get a lot of compliments!
The size 11" tall, 15"across the
bottom and 9" across the top. The handle
shows a little wear but over all it is in
....

Minute evening bag and compact from the 1940s.
This itty bitty bag is just adorable! It
is made out of a deep coral faille, has a
little fabric handle and closes with a sweet
brass clasp. Inside is a matching mirrored
compact, which still has it's powder screen
and puff! The makers name is on the bag,
the frame of the compact as well as the puff.
It reads Lin-Bren Creation. The inside lining is coral taffeta and
it has three compartments one for the compact,
one for lipstick and another for your comb.
It is just a wee thing measuring 4 1/2"
tall (not including handle) 6" wide
and 2" deep at base. There is a very
small faint spot less than 1/4" round
on the back but you really have to look to
see it. The compact is pristine.
