Rich aurora borealis rhinestone demi parure
from the 1950s by Weiss.
The set consists of matching bracelet and
earrings done in prong set crystal rhinestones
with a lustrous aurora borealis finish. These
Austrian crystal rhinestones are of exceptional
quality (as with all Weiss pieces). Their
fire and color play is stunning.
For the bracelet the larger stones are emerald
cut with double rows of brilliants in between.
The earrings are screwback dangles with two
separate rows of rhinestone. The dangles
are finished at the end with larger emerald
cut stones.
I like the size of this set. It is
substantial
enough to be seen but not oversized.
Perfect
if you are looking for a splash of
glitz.
The large stones in the bracelet measure
1/2" long and the length of the
bracelet
is 7". The earrings are just about
1
1/2" long.
The metal is gold tone and it has just a
slight bit of patina. There is no corrosion
and all the stones are bright.

Adorable rhinestone, mushroom theme brooch
by Hattie Carnegie circa late 1950s -60s.
Hattie Carnegie was known for her whimsical
designs and her pieces are highly sought
by collectors. This darling brooch depicts
an unusual bugs eye-view of two mushrooms.
Since we are looking at the undersides we
only see a portion of the tops of the mushrooms.
The stems and cap edges are set with rhinestones
in a variety of sizes and colors. Mostly
greens and blues with a few aurora borealis.
The metal has a gold tone finish which sets
the colors off nicely.
A modest sized brooch, it measures 1 1/2"
tall and 1 1/2" wide. Three of the original
rhinestones were missing when I bought it.
I replaced them with stones from the same
era that blend in very well. Although you
cannot tell which stones are replacements
without really searching, it does affect
the collectors value that they are not all
original. If you are a serious collector
this is important and we have reflected it
in our price.
Excellent condition (with replaced
stones)

Sunshine yellow, seashell, demi parure from
the 1950s.
Such a clever use of shells, made to look
like little tropical flowers by nestling
a small curled shell within a larger flat
one then painted a high luster, pearly yellow.
The set consists of a pair of clip back earrings
and princess length necklace.
Pretty and unique, with a hint of island
charm.... It makes me think of warm breezes
and barefoot walks on the beach!
The earrings measure 1 1/4" across.
The necklace is 18" long and it
has
a hook closure.

Azure Murano, cube bead necklace - circa
1920s-early 30s.
One of the many Venetian glass styles created
over the centuries. These satin smooth hand
crafted beads are graduated in size, hand
knotted and separated by small crystal rounds.
The cotton cord which the beads are strung
on is a matching shade of blue, a beautiful
touch. Some vintage jewelry collectors choose
to have bead necklaces restrung on new cord
to prevent the possibility of breakage and
loss. Old cord can weaken over time and heavy
beads in particular cause wear. This one
is still sturdy and can be worn as is (with
care of course). Fortunate because the blue
cord which adds so much would be hard to
replace.
A generous opera length, this necklace is
38" around. All of the beads appear
to be intact. No chips or cracks that I can
see.
I acquired this from the estate of
a prominent
Boston based lawyer. They belonged
to his
wife who had impeccable taste. The
home was
filled with stunning artwork and artifacts
which I believe were going to auction.
I
was called in to view some clothing
and asked
if there was any jewelry available
as well.
The fine jewelry went to family members
but
they were happy to have me look at
the costume.
I chose a few pieces and this was one.

Stunning demi-parure from the 1940s-50s.
A most unusual set in two toned amber and
gold rhinestone. So beautifully designed
and hand crafted with prong set stones. I
was surprised not to find a name on this
one. Perhaps it once had a bracelet or pin
with the designers name. It was not uncommon
for a parure to only have one signed item
in the set.
The necklace combines round and marquis stones
in a thick band. There is a double marquis
pendant dangling from a semi circle of golden
rhinestones as a point of focus. The large
clip earrings echo the center detail. A very
important looking set. There is a hook closure
with one gold rhinestone accent.
The stones are very fine quality all
bright
and full of sparkle. The settings are
gold
plated.
The necklace is adjustable in length to 15
1/2" The earrings and center pendant
measure 2 1/4" long. Substantial but
not overwhelming. Although it would look
well on many people this set is exceptionally
beautiful against brown or olive toned skin.
