Ethereal, white tulle semi-formal gown.
Circa 1950
This lovely dress typifies the feminine style
of the late 40s and early fifties. The strapless
bodice with cinched waist and prominent bustline
accentuates the female form and the ruffled
tulle skirt whispers of romance.
The boned bodice has a taffeta lining with
pleated tulle overlay. Rows of tulle ruffles
enhance the bosom making the fitted waistline
appear even smaller. The ballerina length
skirt is composed of yards and yards of ruffled
tulle. It has a full taffeta lining. I photographed
the dress with a petticoat underneath to
give the full effect of the skirt (petticoat
is not included).
A bra is not necessary because the bodice
is boned and will support the figure but
if you have sensitive skin you may want to
wear a long strapless bra underneath because
the tulle that is gathered into the seams
can be scratchy. The cups of the bodice are
generous, at least a C and it was very common
for women to wear padding to fill them out.
Since the skirt is fully lined scratchiness
is not an issue with the skirt.
This dress would be beautiful for any
number
of occasions......as an alternative
wedding
dress, for your coming out party or
prom.
The ballerina length makes it appropriate
for semi formal or formal occasions.
The condition is wonderful and it has been
cleaned. The structure of the tulle is completely
intact. With a thorough inspection I did
fine one pea sized hole on one of the ruffles
but you really need to search to find it.
The size is X-small around a modern 2. It has the following
measurements.
Bust 32"
Waist 25"
Length from waist to hem 34"
Very Good Condition

Grecian Style!
Elegant black satin jersey gown from the
1970s. The material has a wonderful drape
and I think it is most likely a nylon blend.
The dress is sleeveless with spaghetti straps
which criss-cross and tie in back. The shirred
bodice has a built in bra so a separate bra
is not needed. At the waist on the left is
a fabric rose. The skirt is is very pretty,
it gathers at the waist and wraps around
the body finishing in a pretty drape beneath
the rose. When you walk it will open just
a little to show a bit of leg. There is no
makers label just a care and size label.
The size is a modern Extra Small especially in the bust. It has the following
measurements.
Bust 33"
Waist 24" to 26"
Hips are free size
Length of skirt from waist to hem 41"
Excellent Condition

Red Hot Mama!!
This spicy little mini dress is from the
"over the top eighties". The label
is gone but judging by the couture construction
and opulent fabric it must have been a "top
drawer" designer. The only label left
inside reads size 4. The fabric is a black
and metallic red lace COVERED with garnet,
red sequins. The neckline is scooped which
has a a beautiful gathered detail with folds
that radiate out over the bust. The long
sleeves are pouffed at the top and taper
down to a narrow wrist. At the wrists are
tiny zippers so the sleeves fit snugly. The
fabric at the waist and hips is slightly
shirred creating pretty draped folds across
the body. The skirt is tight and VERY short.
There is a side zipper and keyhole opening
in back which closes with decorative black
glass buttons. The construction is gorgeous.
The neckline is faced with burgundy silk
satin and the dress itself is lined in black
satin. There is a lot of couture finish work.
I really wish I knew the designer! It you
dare to wear this one I suggest you go the
whole 9 yards with black fishnets and spectacular
heels. The size is Extra Small with the following measurements.
Bust 33"
Waist 24"
Hips 34"
The skirt is 16" long from waist to
hem
