Cool polished cotton ensemble from the early 1950s. The fabric is a beautiful aqua cotton with polished satin finish. The set consists of a cropped bolero jacket open in front and full circle skirt. It is pictured with a petticoat beneath which is not included.

If you do not have a petticoat and are looking for one there are plenty online if you just do a quick search. The older ones are harder to find but there are many sources for new. Bridal wear sites are a good place to look.

The skirt is lightly detailed with three soutache embroidered flowers connected by flowing swirls. There are silver bead studs in the center of each flower. It has the original self fabric belt. I do not know the maker as the label has been removed.

This outfit would likely have been worn with a crisp white cotton blouse or snug little sweater. I can also see it with a white crossover halter top.

It zips on the side with a metal zipper and closes at the waist with plastic pearl ball buttons. It was never worn and the size is generous around a modern 10-12 with the following measurements.

Skirt Waist 33"
Skirt length 28"

Lush velveteen Maxi Skirt 1970s
The fabric is just beautiful. Rich cotton velveteen with Mod-Nouveau floral pattern. The background is the deepest Black/Blue color. It is so dark I have had one person swear it is black. Others can see the blue in it. The swirling floral pattern uses several vibrant colors. Red.. purple.. teal.. pink.. orange.. white.
Long A-line shape with fitted waist. Team it up with any number of tops. Try a skinny sweater or bolero jacket. For a dressy look wear it with a halter top or sleeveless shell. A filmy off the shoulder peasant blouse (in red!) would be my pick. The skirt has a Lord + Taylor tag
Generous Medium around a modern size 8-10
Waist 32"
Hips 44"
Length 39" with a 2 1/2" hem

Breathtaking hand print wrap skirt from the 1960s-70s.
The fabric was hand silk screened on cotton twill and created in St. Lucia by a small company called The Bagshaws. I believe they are still in operation. It has the blue and white signature label with double seahorse logo and The Bagshaws of St. Lucia W. I.
The modern patterns are often floral but the vintage motifs seem more artistic. This one features an ornate Etruscan-inspired pattern with mythical mirror image birds. The colors are lavender and navy on a pink background.
The skirt a tie wrap with deep side vent. Most wrap skirts are flexible in size but this one has less leeway. There is a back under panel in pink that will peek out if it is on a larger frame. It says small and will work best on some one with the following range of measurements.

Waist 24"-26"
Hips 34"-37"
The length is 39"

Classic early 1940s Southwestern style skirt.
Some looks never go out of style. The romance associated with the look of the Southwest which blends both Native American and European American elements will forever be a part of American Fashion. This beautiful multi tiered cotton skirt is done in antique white and purple cotton. It is trimmed with yellow and purple ric-rack and one band of multi color braid at the hip. The skirt is gathered at the waist and VERY full at the hem. It closes on the side with a button and snaps.
Traditionally these skirts were not ironed but rather after washing they were squeezed together and tied with string to dry. This created a pleated effect.
This piece was worn but there are no stains or holes and it is still very wearable. It was hand made and the size is medium/small.

Length 33 1/2"

Stay cool as a cucumber in these cotton printed shorts from the 1960s. All are nicely made with a light weight, white cotton batiste underlining. They are designed with flat fronts and the legs are slim ending at just a few inches above the knee. Very flattering. They are all small around a modern 6 with waists that measure 26" and hips 36" (give or take a smidgen). All have been worn but have lots of wear left.

Dusty rose, wool flannel skirt from the late 1940s. This was just after the war and restrictions on yardage for clothing had been lifted. As a result hemlines dropped and flared out but the full circle skirt had not fully come into vogue. Often the skirts from this era featured interesting twists in design as well. This one, instead of putting the kick pleat in back has it in front. The cut is straight with a slight A-line. There is a side metal zipper and no pockets. The size is small with a 25" waistline and 36" hips the length is 30" from waist to hem. This skirt has no label but came with the next three which are all from Peck and Peck. It was most likely custom made.

The MOST fun skirt
I just fell in love with this skirt when I first saw it! I'm sure the original owner was the absolute ENVY of all the other girls! What a cutie!
It is a full circle skirt from those 1950s Bobby Sox days. The material is a crazy patchwork of different black and white cotton prints. This has then been machine quilted in a small windowpane pattern. The waistband is black grossgrain ribbon and it has a side metal zipper. Since it is a true full circle this skirt really swings with movement. The label inside reads Loomtogs. It is med/small in size with a 26 1/2" waist. It measures 28" long.

Exotic Full pleated taffeta skirt from the Post War 1940s. The material is a a crisp woven-stripe taffeta with a black ground and rich multi colored stripes. I am envisioning a scoop neck ballet top with it and fabulous platform wedges... but that is just one look for this lovely skirt. It is double pin-tucked all around the waist and flares to a generous width at the hem. It has a narrow waistband and side metal zipper. The name inside reads Emmy Richards Fashions. It is small in size measuring 25" around the waist. The skirt is 27" in length with a generous hem.

Printed cotton, full pleated skirt from Post War 1940s. The fabric is lovely, a soft fine cotton with a beautiful Batik-like print in olive and pale sage. The pleating is nice with a flat pleat panel front and back and small tucks on the sides. It closes down the side with pearl buttons and three more buttons at the waist. The label in the waistband's a bit frayed but I think it reads SKIRTWEAR by Ernest Donath. I'm thinking cashmere and penny loafers would work well with this one yes? The size is quite small with a 24" waist. The length is 25".
