Feminine and lady like, lace overlay
cardigan
from the 1960s.
By Danella
Cream lace, over kitten soft Orlon knit with
elegant satin details. The sweater closes
with real mother of pearl buttons. The rounded
Peter Pan collar is satin bound on the edge
and the sleeves have knit cuffs so they can
be worn pushed up which was the style at
that time. It has a straight style without
any shaping and is cropped above the hip.
The edge of the hem is also satin bound.
The collar can be worn buttoned up but would
also look lovely open at the neck. A perfect
year round vintage sweater that will go with
everything.
Dressy enough to wear in the evening over
your shoulders yet casual looking when worn
with jeans. A truly versatile piece. Never
worn and in......

Classic beaded black sweater from the
late
1950s - early 1960s.
The knit is a soft wool and fur blend with
a touch of nylon to retain shape. It is lined
around the neck and in front with black China
silk. Along the front edges and around the
neck is trimmed with beads and sequins. The
sequins are especially pretty... black with
an aurora borealis finish. These same sequins
are sprinkled over the front.
The sweater closes with black dyed
mother
of pearl buttons and has a fitted ribbed
waist and cuff.
The label reads.. Imported Full Fashioned
Tarsia knit, 20% fur fibre,10% nylon and 70% lambswool,
hand frame knitted. There is a small,
made
in Japan label as well another which
reads
size 40.
It has the typical cropped look with
a ribbed
waist band which rests just below the
natural
waist. The sleeves are not 3/4 length
but
they are shorter than those of most
modern
sweaters. The look of the day was to
push
the sleeve up so one could show off
the pretty
bracelets and dainty watches women
always
wore.
Another very versatile sweater which can
be worn for day or evening. Never worn and
in....

For those nippy, hot cocoa, fall and winter
days a 1950s Red Plaid Mohair cardigan!
Mohair comes from the Angora goat. The wool
has a smooth, lustrous, texture and looks
a bit like spun sugar!
An expensive fiber, Mohair is usually
blended
sparingly with wool to create a feather
light
yarn that is remarkably strong and
warm.
Although perfect for fall or spring
I often
wear mine in place of a coat on less
frigid
winter days as well.
Dark cherry red with gray and black plaid
front + plain back. Plain red sleeves, button
placket and collar. This sweater is a very
nice PURE mohair yarn (not a blend)... thick
but lightweight and oh sooo cozy. The buttons
are genuine gray mother of pearl.
The label reads Made in Italy Exclusively for Saks Fifth Avenue Mohair.
Med size with the following measurements before stretch.
Bust 39"
Waist 34"

1950s-60s hand embroidered cardigan
from
Norway.
Rib knit Ivory wool, waist length sweater
with bracelet length sleeves (a little longer
than 3/4 but not quite full length). The
front has beautiful traditional hand embroidered
flowers and twining vines. It buttons to
the neck with cast pewter buttons.
Genuine vintage Norwegian sweaters are a
treasure and have inspired many a designer
to create their own versions. Some of the
copies are lovely but I prefer the real thing.

Just Adorable!
Pretty little floral blouse circa 1950s.
Done in a light nylon crepe with deep pink
flower print accented with spring green foliage.
The background is white. The cut of the blouse
is cropped and gently fitted. It has short
sleeves and a mandarin like collar. At the
neck is a dainty double bow done in the same
fabric. It closes down the front with pearl
buttons. The look of the day in the 50s was
a bit high waisted so be aware that the blouse
will only come to a few inches below the
midriff, just enough to tuck in if desired.
The size is a generous medium with a bust measurement of 41". The shoulders are 15 1/2" across and
the waist is 33". The label inside reads
Miss Charm Boston. Size 36. This is odd because the
measurements are more like a size 38. These
vintage nylon blouses hand wash and drip
dry beautifully. Never Worn and in ...
